I refer to the latest news about over 19,000 still uncollected voting documents, and I would like to hark back to what all parties, including AD, have been doing in the last days: exhorting people to go and vote.

All parties have their reasons for this exhortation, be it minimising defeat or mobilising supporters. As an AD candidate, I would like to venture a few thoughts on the importance of going out to vote.

When you do note vote, you are letting someone else decide for yourself. Even if only ten people went out to vote, we would still elect five MEPs and one in waiting. MEPs will still be elected, and your protest will fall on deaf ears, another statistic in the roll-call. If you really want to give a message, do go out and vote for a different, alternative voice.

Alternattiva Demokratika is this voice. Credible and consistent on national and European matters, it has forwarded innovative proposals on the environment and jobs, and through its Green New Deal proposal, is creating opportunities out of the current energy and economic crises that the world is facing.

An AD MEP will influence an additional 50 MEPs from the European Greens. That means that Malta will have another 50 MEPs on its side.

My final message for this campaign is that the vote you were previously not going to cast will gain greater value when you collect your voting document and vote AD on Saturday. Your vote will not be a protest, but a proposal for change. For the first time after 47 years, a third Maltese political force will be represented, through an AD MEP within the European Greens.

This is a golden and historic opportunity. Do not succumb to silence and apathy. Go collect your voting document and cast a pro-active vote.

Yes, we can!
