Thanks to the divorce issue many public figures are declaring with pride they are believers and they are Catholics, however, they are for divorce because according to their conscience this is the best way to alleviate the suffering of a broken marriage.

While not doubting their sincerity it is evident they are not aware that they are simply putting across the message that they think they are wiser than Jesus. This is expected from a non-believer but hardly from Catholics.

When one discovers the beauty of a relationship with Jesus Christ one feels that one has to share this experience with as many persons as possible and would strive to be witness to this love to the benefit of a whole society.

These Catholics therefore would strive to legislate in favour of support and in the best interest of those whose marriage fail but they would not legislate to change the definition of marriage and encourage a divorcist mentality.

They would strive to be a witness to what they are declaring with the belief that a lasting happy marriage is possible once it is a proposal of Jesus Christ. They would strive to invest in the best skills and resources for a Marriage Preparation and Marriage Care Policy with access to – inter alia – premarital personality assessment and compatibility and quality relationship development. This is a research-proven step that contributes to lasting marriages.

I for one, as a convinced Catholic, would never think of suggesting a solution to a problem or any recipe for joy and peace of mind to any individual or to a whole society anything better than the loving guidance as presented by Jesus Christ.
