Updated - adds second video - Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said this afternoon that the Divorce Bill will be moved for first reading in Parliament 'in the coming days' and published soon afterwards.

He was speaking as he left PN headquarters after a meeting of the PN parliamentary group which discussed the outcome of the referendum.

Dr Gonzi said the MPs had discussed the roadmap leading to the enactment of divorce legislation, in line with the outcome of the referendum.

"The will of the electorate must be reflected in Parliament," Dr Gonzi said, but he did not specify how he would vote.

Earlier, Nationalist whip David Agius said the debate on the Divorce Bill may take place before Parliament rises for the summer recess (usually in mid-July).

Former minister Jesmond Mugliett said the parliamentary group had had an interesting discussion on parliamentary procedure and said the debate could begin 'almost immediately'.

The Divorce Bill was first presented to parliament as a private member's motion by Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando in July last year. Labour MP Evarist Bartolo subsequently became a co-sponsor.
