An AFM Alouette helicopter this afternoon airlifted a diver to hospital after he found himself in difficulties at Dwejra, Gozo.

The diver, a British tourist, was injured by the rough seas as he tried to return to shore.

The alarm was raised by other divers at about 12.30 p.m. and the helicopter was scrambled a short time afterwards. A dinghy of the Civil Protection Department was also on the scene.
