An English woman is in critical condition after inexplicably falling sick during a dive in Ċirkewwa yesterday.
Sources said the woman, 53, was part of a group of 10 divers, including an instructor who noticed her son carrying her to the surface.
She was carried ashore and complained she was having trouble breathing before she stopped breathing altogether and shortly after lost consciousness. Her family called an ambulance and tried resuscitating her until it arrived.
The woman, here on holiday, was put in intensive care at Mater Dei Hospital.
Duty Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna launched an inquiry.
