The Malta Union of Teachers has registered a trade dispute with the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (Mcast) following adverts in the local press inviting candidates to apply for the post of ICT lecturers.

The MUT said the adverts in question inter alia indicate that successful candidates will be employed on a full-time basis and can benefit from reduced hours.

The union added that during negotiations on the collective agreement, Mcast's management adamantly refused to include a similar provision for lecturers already in post.

This advert establishes new working conditions for new ICT recruits, thus creating different conditions of work for employees at the same workplace, blatantly breaching the recently signed collective agreement, the MUT said.
