It seems that, with all the laws against discrimination and so on, some persons are still discriminating. I was enjoying my Saturday night out at Paceville, after a punk gig. I thought I'd go to a particular night spot. However to my dismay, I wasn't let in - for no apparent reason whatsoever. I told the bouncer I hadn't done anything and that I was usually there. His reply was that he does not let in people of "my kind" and that if I'm usually there I had to be wearing different clothing.
Not being the first time I have been to Paceville in a torn jeans, t-shirt and leather jacket, my guess is that anyone with a mohawk isn't allowed in there since that is the only thing I had different to other weekends.
It's not fair that other girls, who are barely dressed, are let in and others of "my kind" are not let in just because they have mohawks or torn jeans, or leather jackets. Don't we all want to enjoy music, buy drinks and have fun?
Why can't prejudice be eliminated once and for all? Why is discrimination still being carried out by such people? And, yet, that venue does play some punk tune every once in a while - so why not let the people who enjoy that kind of music do so inside instead of having to stay outside the venue, snubbed by the rest?
