A diploma course in local government was launched today by the parliamentary secretary for local councils, Stefan Buontempo.

He said the course would be especially beneficial for council secretaries and all those involved in the running of local councils.

The course, he observed, was being introduced on the 20th anniversary of the setting up of local councils. He was confident it would contribute to improved accountability and good governance in the councils as well as more efficient public procurement and better management of public funds.
