Din l-Art Ħelwa's Garden of Rest is in full bloom for its annual fundraising spring fête to be held on Sunday.

The garden, which won a silver medal for restoration from Europa Nostra, is nestled in the heart of the Floriana bastions with its magnificent view over Marsamxett Creek and the Lazaretto on Manoel Island.

There will be stalls selling refreshments, bric a brac, plants and books. Money raised will be dedicated entirely to the upkeep of the garden.

There will be two guided tours of the garden and its neoclassic monuments at 12.45 p.m. and at 1.45 p.m. by volunteers of the organisation who will illustrate the development of this select space as a burial place for the British when they first occupied the island in 1800 until 1857.

The garden is best found by taking the road below the public library on Great Siege Road, Floriana, and taking the second fork on the left. The fête will be on until 3 p.m.
