Abou Diaby's own goal gave Manchester United a 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the Premier League today after the champions had fallen behind.

Andrei Arshavin's fierce drive gave Arsenal a deserved halftime lead and they could have doubled their advantage soon after the break when Robin van Persie was denied by a superb save by United keeper Ben Foster.

United levelled soon after when Wayne Rooney was brought down in the area by Arsenal keeper Manuel Almunia and the England striker fired home from the penalty spot.

Five minutes later Ryan Giggs crossed into the Arsenal area and an off-balance Diaby headed past Almunia to condemn the Gunners to their first defeat of the season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was ordered to see out the match from the stands after his team were denied a late equaliser by an offside flag.
