The preferred developers of the shooting range in Bidnija, U Group Malta, said yesterday they were engaged in professional studies on all possible impacts.

The company was reacting to comments made by Mostin u Ħbieb Kontra x-Shooting Range, a new lobby group opposing the proposed location for the range some 300 metres away from the Mosta Boys Secondary School.

The site also lies near the Jesuits’ spiritual retreat house, prompting fears it will destroy its peace and quiet.

“U Group has so far refrained from commenting because it is engaged in professional studies on all possible impacts. All projects the group engages in are always a state of the art,” the company said in a statement.

“The Group assures that its projects are thoroughly analysed and studied by experts in various fields. We do not discover things as we go along but ensure that all information is available at planning stage.”

Information about the development would be provided when it is assured the information is correct, it added.

“Regrettably, the information provided to the public by other organisations is not endorsed by appropriate studies.”
