This letter concerns all the residents of Santa Margherita Estate in Mosta who, on a daily basis, have to commute in and out of this neighbourhood.
We are deeply concerned about the condition of the streets as clearly indicated in this photo. The harsh weather of winter has turned the potholes to craters. Before, we used to manoeuvre around the potholes but now, since these have grown deeper and wider, we have no alternative but to go through without knowing whether we will end up with a punctured tyre or broken spring.
The drivers of minibuses and coaches providing school transport to our children are threatening us that, if nothing is done, they will not pass through these streets and won’t collect our children. We have taken this matter up with our local council on several occasions. Our requests were always declined because we were told that no finances were available to service our streets.
I call on the competent government authorities to verify the situation of our deteriorating streets and take the necessary action to fix them because they have become a nightmare to drivers and residents alike.
