The Labour Party yesterday expressed concern over what it described as the deteriorating situation at Mater Dei Hospital after The Times reported that a patient was resuscitated in a corridor after suffering a heart attack last Friday.
Labour social policy spokesman Michael Farrugia and health spokesman Anthony Zammit said hospital staff were doing all they could to provide the necessary care in a poor environment created by the government's hard-headedness and lack of vision.
The Times yesterday reported that Casualty doctors and nurses had written to hospital authorities calling for an end to the "ridiculous" situation of using parts of their department as a ward due to the shortage of beds.
