A design brief for bidders interested in refurbishing the new Museum of Fine Arts was launched earlier today.

Speaking at a press conference in the Auberge D’Italie, where the museum will be housed, Culture Parliamentary Secretary Jose Herrera said the new museum would have to be self sustainable, accessible and in keeping with the cultural backdrop befitting of a fine arts museum.

The museum restoration and other works is estimated to cost up to €5 million and should be finished within four years, when Malta will enjoy its stint as the European Capital of Culture.

The call for applications will close in February.
