Valletta and Ħamrun Spartans have both lost a key player for their opening Championship Pool encounter on Sunday after Denni and Gaetan Spiteri were handed a one-match ban yesterday.
Denni, who scored Valletta’s opening goal in the 2-0 win over Floriana, and Spiteri, whose late double clinched the Spartans a vital 3-2 victory over Vittoriosa Stars, were suspended after both collected a fourth yellow card.
Another six Premier League players featured on the latest suspensions list.
Duncan Pisani will miss Floriana’s clash with Marsaxlokk on Saturday after getting his fourth booking in the derby. Mar-saxlokk’s Malcolm Licari was also suspended for one match, the same as Tarxien duo Gianluca Calabretta and Ryan Mintoff who have been ruled out of the match against Birkirkara on Saturday.
Qormi goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia is out of his side’s opening Relegation Pool match against Sliema on Monday following his second-half dismissal in the 2-2 draw with Marsaxlokk.
Leighton Grech was the only Premier League player to be hit with a two-match ban. The Vittoriosa winger received his fourth booking before being shown a red card against Ħamrun.
The suspension means that Grech can’t play against Hibs, the club that loaned him to Vittoriosa, and Qormi.
