Denmark coach Morten Olsen has absolved defender Simon Poulsen of any blame for his side's opening 2-0 defeat by Holland.

Poulsen was unfortunate to be the focus of attention after his attempt at a headed clearance hit team-mate Daniel Agger and went into his own net against the Oranje.

Holland then managed a second before the match was over, with the first clearly a turning point.

Veteran coach Olsen refuses to lay the blame at Poulsen's door, however.

He said: "That was like a bucket of cold water over our heads.

"Simon Poulsen was one of our better players, but he was unlucky.

"It's one of those things that happens in football."
