It is high time that our most beloved Malta gets what it rightly deserves, or better, what it desperately needs. Our country is craving for a breakthrough in all senses: social, economic, educational, environmental and in many other areas. And for the accomplishment of such a multi-faceted breakthrough I reasoned that a new entity had to be founded: a new entity that would have absolutely no connections and obligations with any of the national institutions, and in being so it could speak up clearly without beating about the bush. I thoroughly discussed this thinking with a couple of friends of mine and the result was the creation of ALDM, the acronym that stands for Alleanza Liberali Demokratika Malta, Malta's Liberal Alliance. This was back in 2006 and since then the ALDM grew and developed.

In the last months we have formulated a manifesto for Malta that encompasses most of the aspects of humanities, from national level to personal level. On the national level we are proposing a change in the shape of the Maltese Parliament which is configured like a football pitch. We believe it ought to look like a semi-circle, thus a miniature of Brussels' Euro-Parliament. Football matches are played by two teams but a democratic republic may have three, four, five and even more opinions - surely not just two. On the level of the individual's freedom of lifestyle we are proposing divorce and many other political proposals which are completely normal in other EU countries yet absolutely unknown in Malta.

To say the least, our people need to free their minds from the fairytales and fables they have always been made to believe in. May I ask: Is Valletta a European capital or is it a suburb of Teheran?
