Delicata is holding a November Nouveau Night at its winery on the Paola waterfront on November 27.

Starting at 8 p.m. in their state-of-the-art fermentation hall, the evening consists of a four-course dinner accompanied by free flowing 2010 vintage wines to be served directly from stainless steel vats. Numbers are limited and the all inclusive price is € 29.50 per person.

“For wine enthusiasts this will be a unique opportunity to taste the 2010 vintage DOK wines prior to their official release,” a spokesman said. “According to DOK protocols, the new 2010 wines cannot be bottled and released from the winery until January 1, 2011, so this is a unique way for people to get a ‘sneak preview’ of what’s to come.

“It’s a real shame that Malta is one of the first countries in the northern hemisphere to harvest its grapes but, one of the last to release them onto the market place.

“We have a potential commercial advantage over the rest of Europe but we simply cannot capitalise on it because of the current legislation. AOC Beaujolais Nouveau is available in mid-November and other Italian DOC Novello even earlier than that. This will be a unique occasion where wine lovers taste these wines at their very freshest, straight from the tank,” he said.

The buffet style menu, prepared by Maypole, kicks off with Maltese flat bread topped with shredded goat’s cheese au gratin, sundried tomatoes, ruccola, drizzled with olive oil, accompanied by a DOK Malta white wine. This will be followed by a choice of either farfalle al salmone or penne al norma, both washed down with a Rose DOK Gozo wine.

For the main course, diners can choose between roast Maltese pork with rosemary sauce or roast beef with horseradish sauce, both served with baked Maltese potatoes and seasonal veg. This will be accompanied by a DOK Malta red wine.

Finally there is a delicious selection of desserts which will be rounded off with a glass of luscious, sweet, dessert wine, with coffee to finish.

For more information or to reserve seats, simply contact Lisa at the winery on tel: 2182 5199 or e-mail ltonna@delicata.com . Seats are limited and payment is in advance.

People attending are also advised to “wrap up warmly” as the meal is taking place in the actual fermentation hall which can be a bit chilly. And it is November!

Ample car parking is available in the winery’s grape-receiving area right in front of the fermentation hall.
