Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero said goodbye to the club he has loyally served for almost 19 years last night and revealed he was now looking forward to "turning over a new leaf" in his career.

The 37-year-old will leave the Bianconeri on the expiry of his contract on June 30, but a fairytale ending in his last outing failed to transpire as Juve fell to a 2-0 defeat to Napoli in the Coppa Italia final.

Del Piero, who made his Juventus debut in September 1993 and went on to score 289 goals in 705 appearances, had the significant consolation of playing a part in the club's unbeaten Serie A title success and expressed no regrets as his time in Turin came to an end.

"This year was simply amazing, and plenty of different emotions have characterised recent weeks," Del Piero said on juventus.com.

"Obviously we're disappointed for the missed chance to lift the Coppa Italia, but this team experienced an exceptional season.

"We haven't had the icing on the cake, but we've tasted that cake in any case."

Del Piero played 68 minutes of last night's final before being substituted, and the former Italy international left the pitch to a standing ovation at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.

"I'd like to thank everybody for what we've achieved this year and what I've achieved in my career," added Del Piero, who earlier this month marked his final league appearance for Juve with a goal in a 3-1 win over Atalanta.

"When I left the pitch, I was disappointed because we were one goal down, but I also was very proud of the affection that the public showed."

Del Piero leaves Juventus boasting a raft of playing honours, among them six league titles, a Champions League win and a Coppa Italia triumph.

He has been strongly linked with a move to Major League Soccer and has expressed interest in playing for a club in England, but is in no hurry to decide on his future anytime soon.

"Now I go on holidays and then I'll turn over a new leaf," he said.
