A badly decomposed body has been found in a remote field at Ta' Muxi in Qala, Gozo.

People on the scene - close to the sea - said the skeletal remains appeared to be those of a man, and these could be the remains of Briton Geoffrey Morgan, the elderly man who has been missing since early June.

However the police said they could not comment on the reports yet while investigations are carried out. The bones are to be brought to Malta for forensic examination.

The whereabouts of Mr Morgan have remained unknown, despite an intensive search that lasted for weeks. He had last been seen walking in Qala and Nadur.
