The number of registered unemployed stood at 6,168 in March, a decrease of 865 compared to the corresponding month a year ago, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.

In Malta, the registered unemployed amounted to 5,438 persons, whereas in Gozo the figure was 730.

In the 12 months to March, Malta experienced a decline in unemployment, whereas Gozo witnessed a slight rise (-879 in Malta and +14 in Gozo).

In the 12 months to March, all the age groups showed a decline in the number of registered unemployed, with the biggest drop being reported in persons aged 20-24.

The unemployment rates for March are not available since the data on the labour supply for this month are not yet available.
