A decision on the development of a boundary wall, which would partially block the view off a Nadur belvedere was put off to September in a bid to try to come to an agreement about the application.

The decision had been on hold pending legal advice, which has now been given to the board but has not been made public.

The application, to build a 1.4 metre wall to protect a property, was filed by Andrew Vella and his family, owners of a field below the belvedere in David Cocco Palmeri Street and Mġarr Road.

The request is strongly opposed by the Nadur council and Nationalist MP Chris Said, a former Nadur mayor.

The authority suspended its decision today to give the applicant and the opponent a chance to come to a solution and discuss a proposal for the belvedere railings to be retreated by 1.5 metres so that people would not be able to look down into the property.
