Labour MP Deborah Schembri has been added to the Labour Party list of candidates for the European Parliament elections in May.

Dr Schembri was one of the leaders of the divorce campaign and was elected an MP through a casual election in March.

The PL National Executive approved three candidates for the May elections today.

They are Mario Farrugia Borg, 43, a member of the Prime Minister's Secretariat who is also active in the Muslim community, Fleur Vella, 35, a marketing manager, and Dr Schembri.

This was the second group of candidates to be approved, and the list is expected to get longer.

Other candidates approved so far include former Prime Minister Alfred Sant, the former head of the Civil Protection Department Peter Cordina, university lecturers Lino Bianco and Ivan Grixti, architect Clint Camilleri,  journalist Miriam Dalli and former local councilor Cyrus Engerer.
