Franco Debono will participate in the no-confidence debate next week, taking some of the time of the Nationalist group.

"Franco Debono is part of the Nationalist parliamentary group and he will use some of the time of the Nationalist group" whip David Agius told TVAM on PBS this morning.

"For as long as something else happens, Franco is part of the PN group and I am keeping him informed of our meetings," he said.

Mr Agius spoke to Dr Debono in parliament yesterday. He said Dr Debono still recognised the Nationalist whip.

It has not been decided yet when Dr Debono will speak during the debate.

The debate starts on Monday evening and continues on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, ending with the vote on Thursday at noon.

It was agreed at the House Business Committee meeting yesterday that most of the speaking time will be allocated to Nationalist MPs, with the Opposition saying it only needs some 90 minutes.

Opposition leader Joseph Muscat will open and close the debate.
