A framework agreement announced on Thursday restricting Iran’s nuclear programme was yesterday hailed by the Maltese government, which said it presented a unique opportunity to find a more detailed and binding accord.

In a statement, Foreign Minister George Vella applauded the hard work put in by all parties involved in the Lausanne talks, while expressing hope that the development would also defuse tensions in the Middle East.
