Fr Cyril Axelrod, the deaf and blind priest of international fame who is presently in Malta, paid a courtesy visit to our Auxiliary Bishop Mgr Charles J. Scicluna at the Archbishop’s Curia in Floriana.

He was accompanied by Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Ms Hester Holliday, a deaf person from South Africa and Mr Simon Chan, an interpreter of sign language from Hong Kong.

Fr Cyril shared his experience with Bishop Scicluna and thanked him for the support that the Church in Malta has always accorded him in order to extend his work in our country with persons with his same disabilities, their families and those that live or care for them.

Bishop Scicluna thanked him for his work and congratulated him for the O.B.E. bestowed on him by Queen Elizabeth II for his work amongst deaf and blind persons.

Fr Cyril will be back in Malta this December when he is scheduled to give a series of talks together with Fr Larry Kaufmann, moralist and Provincial of the Redemptorist Order of South Africa.
