On the night of April 21, somebody stole the numberplates of my husband's car as well as those of one of his colleague's. They will probably be used on another car to commit a theft.

The police were on patrol and noticed the missing plates so they contacted my husband. The police followed normal procedure and told my husband he was to go to the police station the next day to file a report.

My husband did as he was told and took the report to the Malta Transport Authority to get a new set of number plates.

To our surprise, he was charged €60 for the plates and €7 for an affidavit.

The honest citizen has once again suffered at the expense of those who commit crimes.

We would really appreciate it if somebody from the ADT could explain the reason why we were charged for the stolen plates.
