A probation officer said in court today that a woman who stands accused of perjury, leading to her father's imprisonment, had recently said she wanted to live with him.

The evidence was given by Antonia Spagnol as she submitted a pre-sentencing report after Leanne Camilleri admitted to perjury.

Ms Camilleri is accused of having invented claims that her father had sexually abused her.

Ms Spagnol said Leanne's parents separated when she was just seven years old. She continued to live with her mother. The father was never present because of the separation.

Leanne had a lot of anger for her mother, and would always fight with her.

Leanne currently has two part-time jobs as a carer. She was 'in contact' with a social worker and psychologist.

Ms Spagnol said that after Mr Camilleri's recent release from prison (where he served 400 days from a four-year sentence) Leanne told her that she wanted to live with him, but that was not possible because there were  problems with his partner.

Mr Camilleri himself had told her that while had forgiven her, she should shoulder responsibility for her actions.

In recommendations on punishment, Ms Spagnol said she was suggesting that Leanne be placed on probation for three years and ordered to perform 100 hours of  community service. She also needed to receive psychological help.

Sentencing is due on September 15.
