To mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin and 150 years after he published On the Origin of the Species, the British Council recently organised an exhibition about Darwin's life and studies, entitled 'Darwin now'.

The exhibition explores the origins of Darwin's book, outlines his ideas and links them to modern science. This exhibition will be visiting 10 schools and was on display for two weeks at Our Lady Immaculate School in Ħamrun.

To increase awareness of Darwin and his work, students from Form 1 to Form 4 have been involved in a series of activities.

Form 1 students looked at different living organisms and how they are adapted to survive in their own habitats.

Form 2 students looked at how organisms evolve to become better adapted to their environment.

Students in Forms 3 and 4 took part in a quiz through which they became more aware of Darwin's life and work. Form 4 biology students also investigated how colour may affect what a bird eats.
