An exhibition on Charles Darwin was hosted by 10 schools and colleges in Malta, including St Albert the Great College, which held various activities involving students from Year 4 all the way up to Form 4.

The exhibition, ‘Darwin Now’ was organised by The British Council as part of an international celebration of the bicentenary of Charles Darwin’s birth.

This also coincided with the 150th anniversary of the publication of his seminal work, On the Origin of Species through Natural Selection.

A model of the HMS Beagle was built by St Albert the Great arts students, and Year 5 students participated in a role play about Darwin’s voyage.

A religious debate entitled ‘Does evolution challenge religion’ was also held, as well as hands-on activities explaining the process of natural selection. The British Council sponsored prizes for the competitions and activities and certificates were awarded to all students.
