Balzan came from two goals down to earn a point against struggling Rabat Ajax this evening.
Rabat were in control for much of the first half and they took the lead after 12 minutes. Jonathan Bajada’s throughball released Ryan Micallef who sped clear, rounded Balzan goalkeeper Guilherme before depositing the ball into an empty net.
Balzan tried to respond but it was Balzan who doubled their lead on 26 minutes.
Carrillo arched a cross into the path of Bajada who nodded the ball into the path of Micallef who beat Guilherme from close in.
On the restart Jesmond Zerafa threw in the fray Ryan Darmanin and Gordon McKay for Joselito and Godwin McKay.
Darmanin quickly left his mark to the match as on 69 minutes when Jose Luis Armario Negrin found Darmanin on the edge of the area and the towering striker hit a low drive that had the better of Azzopardi.
Balzan kept pushing more men forward and they managed to save a point six minutes from time when Aaron Agius found Darmaninn inside the area and the Balzan striker volleyed the ball past Azzopardi.
Rabat striker Ryan Micallef was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
