Malta FA president Norman Darmanin Demajo has praised the courage shown by Prince Ali of Jordan in contesting Sepp Blatter for the FIFA presidency in May.

Darmanin Demajo said the MFA had been the first association to nominate Prince Ali for the presidential election but pointed out that he has nothing against Blatter who has announced that he will be stepping down in the coming months in the light of the bribery scandal that has engulfed FIFA.

Darmanin Demajo said that has invited Prince Ali to visit Malta while the latter went one step further by inviting the Malta national team to play a friendly match against Jordan in November.

"This match will be a friendly but more importantly, it will be a match of solidarity - of support and appreciation of the courage shown by Prince Ali in the FIFA presidential election," Darmanin Demajo told the MFA AGM.

"There is more to life than winning."

Darmanin Demajo also spoke about the MFA presidential election next year. He said that he has yet to make up his mind whether to seek a third term at the helm of the local governing body but hinted that he's leaning towards that scenario.

Darmanin Demajo told the assembly that they will be the first ones to know about his decision, which he intends to take after the summer, as it was the club officials and delegates who elected him for a second term two years ago.
