Further to Fr Joe Mallia’s letter about the dangerous pavement in Xemxija (November 22) I too would like to draw attention to the state of the pavement in question and to the electricity pole encroaching on pavement space and the debris left by workmen that is blocking the pavement.

I can only wonder who will be responsible should some pedestrian fall or be struck by a vehicle because of having to get down onto the road.

Also in a bad state is the boundary wall of an abandoned old villa situated on the left-hand side going up Xemxija Hill. This wall is a potential danger to the voluminous traffic that passes through.

Who will take responsibility for accidents that may be caused by this neglect?

Despite the fact that half of the population in Malta passes through Xemxija Hill, how is it officers from the local council, the police or the roads division have not noticed these things?

My wife and I have reported the situation to the Qawra police who seem to be unable to do anything about it.
