Going up from the roundabout below the University towards the Paceville/Pembroke area, one has to pass below a wall some 30 courses high. Looking closely at the lower end of the wall one sees stretches of these franka stones in a severe state of crystallisation which turns them into powder. They have lost most of their resilience and at any moment in time they might yield under the weight on them, crashing onto this extremely busy road with disastrous consequences. The extremely wet weather we had did not help but rather made the situation worse.
Can the authorities please hurry to mend the wall? The bougainvillea plantings put there will not hold the onslaught when it happens. Are the authorities resting on the fact that a magisterial inquiry will be held if anything happens?
