A group five young free runners will be springing into action at this year’s Notte Bianca.

Addressing a press conference ahead of the event, this Saturday, Culture Parliamentary Secretary Jose Herrera said the young athletes would wow the crowds.

Free running, also known as Parkour, is a street art which fuses the explorative qualities of skating culture with gymnastic flair.

The collective of young performers, Maltese Motion, was formed earlier this summer and will perform flash mob installations to the backdrop of the National Orchestra in St George’s square.

Dr Herrera said this year’s event would to be among the biggest ever held with some 70,000 visitors expected.

The evening offers a brief opportunity to visit the array of palaces, museums and cultural sites in the capital.

Event director Sean Buhagiar said the evening represented the pinnacle of local cultural events.
