Some 350 Maltese and Gozitan students joined thousands of schoolchildren from across the world this afternoon in an ultimate dance experience Guinness World Record attempt.

The Big Dance, also held as part of the celebrations to mark the British Council’s 75th anniversary in Malta, was is organised in collaboration with the Dance Studies division, Mediterranean Institute at the University of Malta, Maltese Olympic Committee and St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity.

It was held in St George’s Square, Valletta.

Big Dance is the world’s largest dance programme. Founded in 2006 by the Mayor of London in partnership with Arts Council England, Big Dance is London’s Legacy Trust UK programme.

The current world record for the largest simultaneous multi venue dance is held by the Netherlands, with 1,472 locations and 264,188 people dancing.
