European Commissioner John Dalli said this evening that the situation in which the government had found itself in was a flimsy one, but his reading of the situation was that the government was now in a coalition and it therefore still had a majority in parliament.
Speaking during an activity at Mosta local council, Mr Dalli said that the fact that Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando had resigned from the PN parliamentary group meant he was now more free to take decisions according to his conscience.
The situation was flimsy and it could change, in which case the government would have no choice but to call a general election, he said.
