John Dalli told a Brussels press conference this afternoon that he would be taking legal action for unfair dismissal.

His press conference was held a week after his sudden resignation from the European Commission after an investigation into claims of trading in influence involving Sliema businessman Silvio Zammit.

Mr Dalli has consistently denied wrongdoing. He also denies knowledge of Mr Zammit's alleged actions.

In his press conference Mr Dalli argued that his resignation was forced and no written explanation had been handed to him by the commission. Not had he signed a resignation letter.
