If you are a cyclist, try to give up running red lights and going down one way streets this Lent.

The Bicycle Advocacy Group is urging cyclists to give up some bad habits following last year’s ‘Be Nice’ campaign when road users were asked to be a little nicer to each other.

This year, the group chose four “sins” that they are asking cyclists to give up as part of its education and road safety awareness campaign.

For the first 10 days of Lent, the group is enforcing its ongoing bike light campaign, which will be followed with a 10-day focus on not running red lights.

The campaign will continue with 10 days of avoiding going the wrong way down one-way streets. If this was unavoidable, cyclists could dismount and walk the stretch.

The last 10 days will focus on not undertaking or overtaking long vehicles at junctions.
