While wishing the editor and hard-working staff of The Times all the cheer for Christmas and the New Year, I think the business supplement had some cheek in covering so many subjects yet left out the opening of a new pharmacy, forming part of an expanding chain, at an upcoming shopping mall in Gozo.

Again, luckily for newspaper readers in these islands, another daily had a first in this story. If I had time I would comment on several items in the business supplement but will limit myself to just one article Voodoo Economics Revisted.

At a time of cheer amid the dark recession clouds, I would have thought a better selection of contributers would have been made, such as would propose lower taxes.

Cutting taxes and state expenditure gives rise to higher spending by earners and more economic growth as it is demonstrated economically that small-scale economic operators and individuals contribute more to the multiplier effect than massive state agencies’ spending. Just look at the disaster of Gordon Brown’s Britain!
