Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the 1980 Panda was, at the time, a modern-day interpretation of a basic, lovable and simple utility vehicle that was easy to use and maintain. The car was a success.

And so is the 'Nuova Panda'. As a proud member of the brand that won the majority of the Car of the Year awards, the Panda couldn't not have a slice of the action - and won the Car of the Year award in 2004. The Panda is more mature - while keeping its 'boxy' shape, it is also much more contemporary and functional in design. The result is a smart, small car: thanks to its tall structure, it offers impressive headroom, legroom and surprising shoulder room, besides better perspective of the road ahead thanks to its relatively high seating position. All-round visibility is also excellent thanks to the intelligent design and interior lighting is more than plentiful.

The Panda promises to exceed the requirements of a cross-section of customers - young and more mature - by offering lots of space for friends, families going to the beach, partying, shopping, or just plain travelling. The smallest in the Fiat line-up boasts intelligent "city mode' steering, so is also a joy to drive in traffic and narrow roads, and a joy to park.

Perhaps the best demonstration of the versatility of a winning model that lives up to the Panda spirit, is by continuing to surprise everyone with new wide-ranging versions: the Panda 4x4, the Panda Cross, the Panda Alessi, the Panda Monster, the Panda Panda, and Panda 100 HP!

The 4x4 and the Panda Cross evoke the desire to travel in complete freedom, without forgoing any of the entertainment of driving this car through narrow city streets. While the former has an intelligent integrated four-wheel drive system, with ABS and EBD, the Panda Cross also offers auto lockable four-wheel drive, 15-inch rims, and upgraded tougher looks. The Panda Monster (in collaboration with Ducati), is a limited edition of only 695, and is an extension to the Cross with added chic and upgraded features such as Blue and Me (Bluetooth), MP3 player, leather interior and an automatic climate control. The Panda Alessi, with its unique design, and upgraded safety and audio systems, will appeal to gizmo maniacs.

By using methanol-based transportation, the Panda Panda is the 'green' alternative Fiat Panda This unique blend of petrol and methanol is supported with a bigger fuel tank and reduces emissions by 23 per cent, apart from offering superior consumption figures.

For the petrol-heads, the Panda100HP's 1.4 16v petrol engine delivers a 100bhp, enough to dash this little 'pocket rocket' to 100km/h in just 9.5 seconds. And if that's not enough, a better response to the steering, alongside with a superior performance from the engine are available at the touch of a 'sport' button. A specially-designed kit and upgraded alloy wheels complete the intensive and sporty look.

The Panda comes with a wide range of engines, ranging from the 54bhp 1.1-litre engine, to the 60bhp 1.2-litre engine, and the 1.4-litre petrol engine in the 100HP edition. A 1.3Multijet engine delivering a healthy 69bhp is also available.
