The Dun Filippu Borgia Society of Birkirkara and Canon Carmelo Calleja have instituted legal action against the Archbishop's Curia, the Prime Minister and the Joint Office which administers former Church property which was passed on to the government.

They insisted that in in terms of a decree by Pope Urbanus VIII when the Collegiate Church of Birkirkara was created and when the Dun Filippu Borgia Society was set up, no one could take over property belonging to the Collegiate, not even the Archbishop's Curia.

They therefore requested the Civil Court to declare that no one could transfer property of the Collegiate to the Joint Office.

Dr Reno Borg is appearing for the society.
