A lawyer representing victims of clerical sex abuse will have a second meeting with Curia officials on Wednesday to discuss compensation.

The first meeting was held three weeks ago, when the lawyer, Patrick Valentino, met Archbishop Paul Cremona. That meeting followed the conviction of two priests of abuse at St Joseph Home for boys. The judgement is being appealed.

The two sides had not given any details of the talks, saying only that further meetings would be held.

“We expressed our ideas... and, given the talks are ongoing, we decided not to speak about the matter in public,” Mgr Cremona said.

Dr Valentino backed up the Archbishop’s statement, insisting both parties were still talking. “We will speak and give details, I assume and hope, when agreement is finally reached.”
