The first-ever cruise fair is being held at the Valletta Waterfront this week. Open on Thursday and Friday to invited guests only, the fair will then be accessible to the public on Saturday, between 6.30 and 9.30 p.m.

Over the last years cruise vacations have seen a drastic increase. In 2008 close to 13,000 Maltese opted for a cruise – an increase of some 30 per cent over the previous year.

With lower prices for 2009, cruise vacations are again expected to further increase their popularity. This is one of the contributing factors that generated the interest in a specialised cruise fair.

Being a cruise fair, it could not be held in a more aptly chosen venue than the Magazino cruise passenger terminal.

The fair will feature some of the world’s top cruise brands, many of which are already well established on the local market. Indeed the mix of brands, ships and itineraries means that there is definitely something to cater to everyone’s different tastes. Among leading brands taking part are NCL, Royal Caribbean International, and Costa Crociere.

The fair is being organised by Mondial Holidays and SMS Travel.

Entrance is free.
