Little Britain stars David Walliams and Matt Lucas raised eyebrows while filming their new series – after nipping to the gents dressed as ladies.

The duo filmed their forthcoming BBC1 comedy at a real airport as passengers milled around. But it meant the comics had to use the facilities alongside confused travellers while dressed as new characters Keeley and Melody, a pair of check-in girls.

Mr Walliams said: “The interesting thing is we get recognised by some British people who might have seen Little Britain.

“But, obviously, as we’re in an airport, a huge percentage of people are from other countries who probably don’t recognise us and are just utterly mystified as to why there are two men dressed as women having a pee next to them in the toilet.”

Mr Lucas added: “I think you surrender your privacy.”

The pair has created a series of characters who work in or pass through a fictional airport for their new spoof documentary series, which debuts on BBC1 on Christmas Day.
