A tourist is in critical condition after falling a height of about three storeys yesterday morning in Portomaso in the second such accident involving a tourist in just over two weeks.
Sources said the Finn, 36, was on a terrace at the five-star Hilton Hotel when he fell into the marina below.
Preliminary investigations, they said, indicated that the fall was an accidental one, with the police ruling out foul play.
Meanwhile, the police said in a statement that they were informed about the incident at about 6 a.m.
They rushed to Portomaso Avenue, where they found that the foreigner had fallen the height of about three storeys within the hotel's boundary.
The man, who was on holiday but was not staying at the Hilton, was immediately rushed to Mater Dei Hospital where he was found to be in a critical condition because of extensive injuries and placed under intensive care.
Investigations are underway by the district police and a magisterial inquiry is being carried out by Magistrate Lawrence Quintano.
Earlier this month, a Russian student, 15, fell to her death from a fifth floor hotel balcony in Ċagħaq Street, St Paul's Bay.
