A Pennsylvania woman has been accused of taking advantage of county jail guards who were apparently confused by her similar-sounding name and released her to a bail bondsman looking for another inmate.

Fayette County warden Brian Miller said Evelyn Grace Campbell, 29, of Uniontown, is back in the county lock-up and now faces an escape charge after Friday's mix-up. That is when the bondsman showed up to post $500 bail on behalf of another inmate, Maretta Ruth Gamble.

The warden believes Campbell stepped forward when guards called for Gamble - then escaped after telling the bail bondsman she did not have identification before he let her sign the release papers. Mr Miller said the guards and bail bondsman should have had photos of both women. The mix-up is being investigated by the jail.
