Australia have postponed their planned tour of Pakistan because of security fears, the countries said in a joint statement.

The two countries said they planned to meet in Dubai next weekend to discuss the possibility of rescheduling the tour that was due to start on March 29.

"We are very sorry that the tour could not take place at this time," Cricket Australia chairman Creagh O'Connor said. "This was a difficult decision based on independent review of the circumstances prevailing in Pakistan at the moment."
