The ruins of the Opera House in Valletta have been converted into a little stretch of Bethlehem where various re-enactors are recreating the nativity scene.

The site also features a number of folkloric attractions such as a potter and a blacksmith at work, a bakery and a set of musicians playing traditional instruments.

The live crib is open daily between 10am and 10pm until Christmas Eve when midnight mass will be celebrated. Re-enactments featuring the announcement of Augustus Caesar’s census decree as well as, amongst others, the Holy Family seeking shelter and the arrival of the Three Wise Men will take place between December 19 and 21.

The site will also host a number of choirs and performances by the Armed Forces and Police Force bands. Entrance is free, but collections are being made for the Malta Community Chest Fund.
