The battered cars were not just trying to survive the punishment of repeated crashes but had to contend with pelting rain during the 2015 Demolition Derby for charity yesterday.

The event at Ta’ Qali is organised every year by the Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi, or ASMK, capping off a long programme of motoring over the course of the day.

Among the events open to the public were the Autocross Rides, with a second seat fitted into cars to enable people to exprience the thrill against a donation of €5.

The Zanu Racing Team made one of its cars available to spectator drivers for the experience of a real autocross, with more donations coming in.

All proceeds will go to charity.

This was the 22nd edition of the derby, which was part of another round of racing from the 2015-16 Poiatti National Championship.
